Use What God Has Given You

“Engage in business until I come”.

Luke 19:13

One of the great temptations of life is to accumulate as much as you can. How does the saying go… ‘He who dies with the most toys, wins’. It is so easy for us who live in the United States of America to slide into this type of living. But that is not what God has taught us. Jesus told a parable in Luke 19 that gives clear instruction that we are to be using what God has given us while Jesus is away.

Jesus said, “Engage in business….”

“What they had gained…”

“Because you have been faithful…”

It is clear that God expects each person to use for His kingdom that which He has provided. From your personality, to your finances, to your relationships, and your natural giftings. God would have you “doing business” to grow His kingdom here on earth until Jesus returns to the earth. Those who have been faithful in using what He has given to advance His kingdom will receive commendation. Those who have squandered what He has given will receive condemnation.

Question to Consider:

What is one thing God has given you that is unique to you and one thing that is commonly shared among people that God would have you ‘engage in business’ for the work of His kingdom?
